On Saturday evening we hosted a dinner and wine presentation for 55 hardy Texans, who braved Tornado warnings and really adverse weather to arrive and enjoy and evening featuring traditional Cape style cuisine and some great World Class family Wines - Moreson Pink Methode Champenoise, Nitida Wild Child Sauvignon Blanc, Moreson Magia Bordeaux Blend, Remhoogte Sir Thomas Cullinan Bordeaux Blend and Nabygelegen 1712 Bordeaux Blend.

A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all, including two pilots from South Africa who came to us care of my great friend Scully Levin.
A bit like a home coming for various South African's in Dallas and our friends and neighbours. An all time success is the Biltong we make here ourselves. Meat sourced from our local butchery - The Old Town Market in Lewisville. Different names here. we use Top Round and Bottom Round for the normal Biltong and when we want great yellow fat we move over to Brisket. We have also worked with Sean from the butchery to make great boerewors. Spices from South Africa and our meat mix.
The meat mix we are learning is a closely guarded secret. He has another South African customer who enters her Boerewors in the annual Boerewors braaing championship in Dallas. She orders her ground meat but will not let him know the mix proportions or her spices!!
